About Us

Our Mission

The mission of Vickswood Federal Credit Union is to aid our members in achieving personal financial success and deliver satisfactory service.

Credit unions are member-owned, not-for-profit financial cooperatives that are established to serve a particular group of individuals with a common bond such as employment, associational affiliation or geographic affiliation.

What Is A Credit Union?

Credit unions are member-owned, not-for-profit financial cooperatives that are established to serve a particular group of individuals with a common bond such as employment, associational affiliation or geographic affiliation.

“Once a member, always a member” is a credit union motto.

As a member-owner you are entitled to one vote at the annual meeting of the membership, regardless of how much or how little money you have on deposit at the credit union. Each year, members have the opportunity to elect a board of directors. The board, which makes policy and determines the direction of the credit union, is comprised solely of credit union members who serve without pay. The board of directors is duty bound to act in the best interest of the member-owners, not stockholders.

Credit unions are among the most heavily regulated financial institutions in the country. This is evidenced by the strength and stability of credit unions nationwide. State chartered credit unions are regulated by individual state banking agencies while federally chartered credit unions are regulated by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), a U.S. government agency.

Your funds are backed by the full faith and credit of the U.S. government and are insured to at least $250,000 by the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund administered by the NCUA.

Our History

On October 1967, eight employees of the International Paper Company applied for a state charter to establish a credit union to serve the employees of the International Paper Company and their immediate family members living under the same roof, organizations made of the same, and employees of this credit union, with a potential employee membership of 375 which is the number of employees within the field of membership.. Thus was born I.P. Employees Credit Union which was changed to Vickswood Credit Union in 1968. Today, we boast assets of over $11 million and are 1,600 + members strong.

Over the years, we have had two credit unions merge with Vickswood Credit Union (Anderson- Tully Lumber Company Employees Federal Credit Union in 2005 and Vicksburg Warren School Employee Federal Credit Union in 2007).

In 2014 we expanded our field of membership to also include persons who live in, work in, attend school in, or worship in Warren County, MS and Yazoo County, MS., and businesses and other legal entitles within the boundaries.

Your funds are safe with Vickswood Credit Union and insured to at least $250,000 by the National Credit Union Administration, a U.S. government agency. To learn more about how your funds are insured and how to increase your coverage, click on NCUA’s Share Insurance Tool Kit.
